Axial Strain of Beam Element

Postby WANLIN » Tue Nov 08, 2016 3:27 pm

There are two issues regarding outputting axial strain for beam elements:
1. It says in the manual that for beam elements one can output to the history file the axial strain as "bm-... AxialStrain", however this is not recognized by MARS.
2. There is in the manual the option "ContourVariable AxialStretch" for Quasar plot, is this the axial strain for a beam element? Is there a way to output axial strain of a beam element for Paraview? Can you please add it if there isn't?
Attached is a sample file.
Thank you.

The issue is resolved in version 2016.11.18, please see Manual for details.

Please use TrueAxialStrain instead of AxialStretch (deprecated) - both are the same as the log strain.

To plot a single element, you can make a list with it then plot the list.
